Overview

  • Front- and back-end development for various apps
  • Used Java, Scala, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML5/CSS3 extensively
  • Used Apache Cordova to deploy apps across multiple platforms
  • Maintained servers, databases, websites, and the ABMI Windows domain
  • Deployed web instances running Apache, IIS, MediaWiki, and Tomcat
  • Analyzed user trends using Google Analytics

NatureLynx

NatureLynx is a mobile app that enables citizen science by allowing people to photograph wildlife throughout Alberta and submit their photos for identification and tagging.

CamTraps

CamTraps is an internal ABMI tool that allows staff to query, organize and tag photos of wildlife that were captured by trail cameras deployed across Alberta.

WildTrax

WildTrax is a platform for managing and processing the massive amount of data collected by environmental sensors.

Faculty of Engineering IT

  • Provided IT support for ~6,500 individuals including graduate students, professors, and support staff in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and across the Faculty
  • Deployed and managed hundreds of workstations, servers, printers, and specialized hardware
  • Administrated domains and active directories for the Department and Faculty
  • Created a faculty-wide knowledge hub using MediaWiki

DiscoverE

DiscoverE is a student-lead organization which delivers summer camps, classroom workshops, and other events to youth across Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

  • Collaborated with teams of 5–50 people to create and deliver STEM curriculum to youth of all ages
  • Created two MOOCs, sponsored by the 2013–2015 Google RISE awards
  • Designed and delivered ~25 week-long Computing Science summer camps
  • Created a company-wide knowledge hub using MediaWiki
  • Delivered hundreds of 90-minute classroom workshops at schools across Alberta and NWT
  • Conducted interviews to hire 23 full-time instructors and 20 full-time volunteers
  • Delivered training on youth work, gender equity, and promoting STEM
